Geographical Keywords
Many small businesses in Bend Oregon are “mobile” based and have a broad service area stretched across Central Oregon and Eastern Oregon. Firstly, it is important to note, that although we in Central Oregon, consider the phrase “Central Oregon” a specific geographical region, Google is not familiar with the term “Central Oregon” at all. This means that, unless someone types in “Central Oregon” into a Google search specifically, that phrase will not automatically be associated with your website even though your business is located in Bend Oregon.
This means that, for mobile businesses who have a broad service area, it is best to specify “known” geographical regions by city, such as Prineville Oregon. For my website that you’re own right now, I have even used the phrase “Prineville Oregon Website Designer” to be even more specific and attempt to have more of what they call a “long tail phrase”. For those folks located in Burns Oregon, for instance, when they search Google and their ISP knows their location, then their search will somewhat automatically include “Burns Oregon” in their search. That means if you have a page that specifically says “Burns Oregon”, you have a much better chance of showing up in their results, than if you only had “Central Oregon”.
For many of my “mobile service” clients, I have created a page integrating through all the cities that they serve in hopes that it will much more readily connect their pages to search made in those remote towns.
